Waiting to Turn Into Puzzles

image

A unique audio-visual collaboration between film maker Louise Curham and composer David Young.

Shot in Yokohama on special Super 8 film and hand processed in Australia, the film Waiting to turn into puzzles is a visually gorgeous moving-image artwork.

The work is unique in the unusual relationship between Louise Curham’s film art and David Young’s also visually-stunning hand-made score. Performed live by Sydney’s Ensemble Offspring at the Aphids ‘Reel Music Festival’, the score is a series of still images taken from Curham’s film which have been hand-painted by Young to provide the directions to the players.

ABC Classic FM’s Australian Music Unit is proud to present this fascinating work online for the first time in eight video and downloadable instalments, appearing weekly from 1 August 2009.
