The Electronic Arts and Video Festival Transitio_MX 04 is the most important platform in Mexico of expression and analysis of contemporary performances of artistic creation with electronic media and digital culture.

The theme of this edition Collateral Affections (Afecciones Colaterales) refers to the impact that the contemporary use of technologies generates in the aesthetic field which tries to produce conditions of different characteristics that can be encompassed en five themes: primary condition, hostile paradigms; secondary condition, negotiation and diffusion; third condition, software, hardware, possibilities of conditions; fourth condition , education, demand rule, knowledge communities and finally fifth condition, interdisciplinary. In this edition the challenge is to generate a guideline to construct a criticism culture about useful technology and digital art.

This event has as its main objective to support, recognize and spread the production and investigation around the technological- artistic media through an exhibition, a symposium and workshops.

Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (CONACULTA), through the Centro Multimedia of Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART), calls on creatives related with artistic production and electronic media to participate in the Fourth New Media Art and Video Contest Transitio_MX.

In this occasion, the following prizes will be given:

TRANSITIO_MX PRIZE

Mexican and international artists will be allowed to participate as well as associations and groups within the electronic and digital media artistic production active community, also hybrid productions generated in the crossroads between art, science, technology and society.

• First prize valued at $120,000.00 (One hundred and twenty-thousand Mexican pesos 00/100)
• Second prize valued at $80,000.00 (Eighty thousand Mexican pesos 00/100)
• Third prize valued at $60,000.00 (Sixty thousand Mexican pesos 00/100)
• The honorable mentions the Jury considers pertinent.

TRANSITIO_MX PRIZE for young mexican artists

Applicants for the Transitio_MX Prize for Young Mexican Artists must be Mexican citizens, either based in Mexico or abroad, between 18 and 25 years old at the deadline date of the present competition call.

• Prize valued at $40,000.00 (Forty-thousand Mexican pesos 00/100)
• Honorable mentions the Jury considers pertinent.

The awards ceremony will take place within the New Media Art and Video Festival Transitio_MX 04, to be celebrated through September 30 to October 9, 2011.
