23 unleashed improvisations by 23 unleashed dogs!

I park in the area behind the strip mall, then proceed through a gap in the fence across the tracks and up a service ladder to a pair of catwalks that run beneath the interstate across the length of the bridge. i began recording at the top of the ladder and didnt stop until after i was back driving in my car. i recorded in mono, so i put one catwalking set backwards (left) to environmentally compliment my return trip across the kansas river (right). one of the dirtiest rivers in the nation, it somehow supports several varieties of large turtles i had not ever seen before. i climbed back down to a bike path running near the train tracks, then noticed a light approaching from the west. a train! i waited for it, and as it reached me, it began to squeal and slowed to a stop. it was a coal train, they’re extra long at the moment because of the present national fuel shortage (the irony!). after the train became completely stopped, i hopped across between cars to the other side of the tracks, getting covered with soot on the way across. i had also got my right elbow bloody climbing the catwalk ladders, so i would say this is as wild an audio project as i have ever had a chance to create and to experience.

Nous jouons essentiellement de la musique electronique improvisée, pour la garder la plus spontanée possible nous ne retouchons pas les enregistrements (pas de cut and paste, pas de compression etc…).

“Restent encore des germes de consciente lueur. Ne sais plus ou pas qui je suis. Les couloirs sont les mêmes, l’errance est la seule locomotion. D’immenses portes s’ouvrent de leur grand oeil, offrant parfois l’avant, le derrière ou l’ailleurs. Une poussière granuleuse dévora son regard et aucun miroir n’aurait su engendrer une image juste.
Deux petites lignes s’étirent, se croisent à peine parfois. Devinant et glissant sur le dos du sol, les corps supportés les remercient, attirés par toutes les avancées. Depuis tout est en suspension, avançant tantôt lentement, tantôt non, en équilibre.”

La casa microscópica.

This project is an invitation to different creators in a common idea.

The idea is investigate our most inmediate sound field, using for the composition only sounds generated by objects or beings inside our living place (or these that being outside we can hear them inside). This sounds could be processed any way, always they have been registered in the house.

In this way we have first the effort (always interesting, I think) of having some sort of rule or autolimitation in our work and in the other hand the fact of the inmediate enviroment having a direct and explicit influence in the music or better said the inmediate environrment almost being our music.

My laptop is an extension of my body and of my thinking. I use it to discover when I mix my sound with someone else’s sound, I use it to build my skin that can make contact through the web and through the air, I use it to create some pretexts, some areas of questioning about making, about identities and about my relation with others: it permeates and it’s permeated by my mind.

I play to discuss myself, to extend myself and criticize my limits, to discuss the culture that constitutes my being, to make experiences of the differences I can not even think.

When a brand new perception crashes on what already inhabits the body, the self mutates its form: a crashbonsai happens, a small crash, sometimes imperceptible but constitutional of the next self. Sound has the privilege to pass through some zones of the body not really defended by culture and that’s why I think it is the right media to cause small breakings.

D’incise – Insectes, Attente et Pixels

Among the artists who combine the aesthetics and sound sculpting of avant-garde with the posse and power of bass-driven urban music D’incise is clearly one of the most interesting and solids of them all and his latest release on Zymogen is only an example of that.
“Insectes, Attente et Pixels” got to be one of the best produced albums I have heard in a while, every sound seems carefully constructed and the way the percussive structures are built, leaves the listener absolutely dazzled and delighted.
The first track “Elle Dort” is a mellow and epic opener, with a laid back mood to it that clashes with an intricate progression of broken percussions that maintain a level of tension through the entire track.
This album have some hyper, convoluted and frantic peaks on “Contemplatif et pixellisé” and “On peut pas tout cacher avec le printemps”: both ecstasies of broken sounds and blazing self-constraining shapes, that grow into enormous bursts of chaotic energy.
Something that I truly love abut D’incise, is that he has some kind of a hardcore attitude, very strong willed and filled with anger and rage that is very present on “Spectacle” whose heavy rhythm evokes the power and will of a military march. Even though I don’t speak French and don’t understand what the vocal sample from the beginning says, it’s not hard to understand that they are upset about something that has to do with the unfair and miss proportioned economical situation the world lives today. This very powerful and dark record finds a balance with slower and awkwardly built tracks such as “Anticipation D’un Voyage”(probably my favorite tracks of the whole record), “Traumatisme Enfantin” and finally “Insectes diurnes et nocturnes”. On those pieces D’incise experiment with unsetting speeds and weird pitching that grow into some really beautiful shapes and motions.
“Insectes, Attente et Pixels” is an exceptional record that a lot of people could clearly enjoy: from the IDM-heads to people more interested in avant garde experimentation.
