Yet another release by this prolific musician, this time deeply

immersed in an outcry about current political, local issues. The

materials of this mini-Cd instance Murga?s favorite music box, low-fi

pop music along with mass media collages and statements by well known

local political figures used as rhythmic loops or motifs. A greater

degree of processing, thanks to some renewed tools, allows him to

achieve a stronger, angrier result.

Nueva entrega de este prolijo msico, ahora inmerso en la denuncia de

temas de poltica nacional. En este mini CD emplea sus sonidos de

caja de ritmos favoritos, msica pop low-fi junto a colages extrados

de los medios de comunicacin y comentarios de conocidas figuras de

la poltica utilizados como bucles o motivos rtmicos. El incremento

del procesado, mediante herramientas renovadas, le permite un

resultado ms fuerte y enfadado.

A series of compositions centered round extreme low frequencies. The

choice of instruments -tubax (a new version of contrabass saxophone),

trombone, double-bass- serves to illustrate the concern announced in

the title. Free jazz tracks alternate with other ones of a more

experimental nature, displaying a closer observation of the

idiosyncrasies of this unusually low reed instrument, or yet other

tracks with a clearer idiomatic orientation.

Una serie de composiciones centradas en torno a frecuencias graves.

La eleccin de instrumentos -tubax (un Nuevo tipo de saxofn

contrabajo), trombn, contrabajo- sirve para ilustrar el inters

anunciado en el ttulo. Cortes de free jazz alternan con otros de

naturaleza ms experimental, que muestran una mirada ms prxima a

las idiosincrasias de este instrumento inusualmente grave, o con

otros de carcter idiomtico ms marcado.

This composition for two pianos and orchestra is concerned with using

open musical, repetitive structures by the interpreters as a means of

communication and contemplation. The music also is an attempt to help

the audience enter a ?world? beyond their emotional associations.

Like much of Alvear?s work, these compositions are deeply concerned

with the recovery of ancient knowledge like that of the native people

of America or Asia.

Composicin para dos pianos y orquesta centrada en el uso de

estructuras musicales abiertas, repetitivas por los intrpretes como

medio de comunicacin y contemplacin. La msica tambin es un

intento de promover la entrada del pblico en un ?mundo? ms all de

sus asociaciones emocionales. Como otras obras de Alvear, la

composicin trata acerca de la recuperacin del saber antiguo de los

pueblos originarios de Amrica o Asia.

A series of improvisations by two saxophones recorded in various

acoustic locations in the city of Liverpool. Background noise is

introduced as an element that interacts with their playing.

Architectural spaces also provide a strong feedback, allowing the

reeds to explore the various harmonic nuances of their naturally

amplified sounds in those particular settings through extended

instrumental techniques contextually stimulated.

Serie de improvisaciones a cargo de dos saxofones en diversos

espacios acsticos de la ciudad de Liverpool. El ruido de fondo es

bienvenido como elemento que interacta con la msica. El espacio

arquitectnico tambin ofrece un fuerte feedback, permitiendo a los

vientos explorar los diversos matices armnicos de sus sonidos

amplificados en dichos contextos a travs de tcnicas instrumentales

ampliadas, estimuladas a nivel contextual.

As a result from an early involvement in serial music this author

developed a reactive if not altogether unrelated stance. Like waves,

the various instruments constantly overlap one another. Emphasis is

placed on continuity rather than change and various drone forms

pervade the whole of the compositions. Yet, underneath the apparently

uninterrupted flow, the essence of klangfarbenmelodie is still

present on a monochrome timbre level.

A resultas de un pasado serial, este autor desarrolla una postura de

reaccin aunque pertinente. Como olas, los diversos instrumentos se

solapan constantemente unos a otros. El nfasis se sita en la

continuidad ms que en el cambio mientras diversas formas pedal

pernean todas las composiciones. Sin embargo, bajo un flujo en

apariencia ininterrumpido, la esencia de la klangfarbenmelodie

permanece aunque en una monocroma tmbrica.

acoustic jazz quartet, explores the outskirts of language.

Instruments are blended in a shared, group task, their playing slowly

discovering ways of instancing. Or, alternatively, composition is

arrived at after endlessly renewing the ways of blending free

improvisation with structure through actual playing. An absolutely

fresh recovery of creative experimentation.

Una veta descubierta y explotada. Labor compositiva para cuarteto de

jazz acstico que explora las afueras del lenguaje. Los instrumentos

se funden en una labor compartida, de grupo, donde la interpretacin

descubre lentamente modos de expresin. O bien, se llega a la

composicin tras renovar las mezclas de estructura e improvisacin a

travs de la propia interpretacin. Una verdadera recuperacin de la

experimentacin creativa.

The process of recording, processing and editing becomes part of

music making. Various levels run simultaneously: speech, acoustic or

electric instruments, electronics, real time sound processing,

recording and back playing of materials. This double articulation

puts forward a feedback model: using its own output as an input, the

concerns don?t seem to deal so much with actual content as with the

operative system used

El proceso de grabacin, procesado y edicin es parte de la creacin

musical, coexistiendo diversos niveles: el habla, instrumentos

electrnicos o acsticos, procesado, grabacin y reproduccin de

materiales en tiempo real. Esta doble articulacin propone un modelo

de retroalimentacin: al utilizar sus propios resultados como fuente,

su inters no parece provenir tanto del propio contenido como del

sistema operativo empleado.

A meeting around an empty space. The interactive arena becomes a

place for subtle, meager interplay. Musicians contribute in a

contained, economical manner. And the result allows us to see through

it: as ice-cubes in a glass of water, the profile of sounds plays

fugues. Inner shapes have to be guessed from those light contours,

slowly melting, superimposed, fading in and out over the depth of

volumes, acoustics and electronics.

Reunin en torno a un espacio vaco. El medio interactivo permite un

interplay sutil, escaso. Los msicos contribuyen con economa,

contenidos. Y el resultado permite ver a travs: como cubitos de

hielo en un vaso de agua, el perfil sonoro crea fugas. Hay que

adivinar las formas internas a partir de esos ligeros perfiles,

disueltos lentamente, superpuestos, desvanecindose sobre la

profundidad de los volmenes, acsticos y electrnicos.

Within a mysteriously empty envelope, the tracks of the album propose

a threshold experience. Audible limits are explored by means of

electronically processed environmental materials concerned with

volume. Dense flows of layered, texturally oriented sound weave in

and out of this barely discernible cloth. Bearing traces of visual,

conceptual art, the piece introduces narrative as some kind of realm

for the relationship with the listener.

En un envoltorio de apariencia vaca, los cortes del lbum proponen

una experiencia liminar. Los lmites de lo audible se exploran

mediante sonidos ambientales procesados electrnicamente y centrados

en el volumen. Densos flujos sonoros, inspirados en la textura entran

y salen de este tejido apenas visible. Con sus huellas de artes

plsticas, conceptuales, la obra introduce una dimensin narrativa

como medio de relacin con el oyente.

A series of electroacoustic miniatures display various techniques and

concerns: the use of human voice as a vehicle for text or endlessly

transformed sound source; processing of acoustic instruments by means

of sophisticated electronic processes; or purely abstract electronic

constructions that leave their acoustic source behind as they become

increasingly abstract. In spite of origin diversity, the resulting

variation remains small.

Una serie de miniaturas electroacsticas que incorporan diversas

tcnicas e intereses. La utilizacin de la voz humana como vehculo

textual o fuente eternamente transformada, procesado de instrumentos

acsticos mediante sofisticados recursos electrnicos o

construcciones electrnicas abstractas que dejan atrs su fuente

acstica al irse abstrayendo. A pesar de la diversidad del origen, la

variacin del conjunto resulta mnima.
