Im 8. Teil unserer Cinematic Concert-Reihe FILM IN SOUNDS improvisieren der deutsche Trompeter Axel Dörner und der Schweizer Saxophonist Antoine Chessex live zu abstrakten Filmbildern. Die von Trompete und Saxophon erzeugten akustischen Texturen verschmelzen miteinander zu verträumten Klanglandschaften, zusammen mit den statischen Bildern auf der Kinoleinwand entsteht eine besondere audiovisuelle Atmosphäre.
Axel Dörner ist ein wichtiger Protagonist der internationalen Experimentalmusikszene, der als Trompeter und Komponist gleichermaßen in viele Projekte auf der ganzen Welt involviert ist.
Antoine Chessex ist ein Schweizer Komponist und Saxophonist, der sich seit Mitte der 90er Jahre mit verschiedenen Formen der experimentellen Musik beschäftigt. Seine Arbeiten umfassen Kompositionen für Ensembles und Solisten sowie Zusammenarbeiten mit internationalen Künstlern.
Diese Performance ist ihr erster gemeinsamer Auftritt für eine rein akustische Instrumentierung, nachdem Dörner und Chessex schon beim Multimediaprojekt Flow 2002/2003 zusammenarbeiteten.
2006 erhielt Axel Dörner den SWR-Jazzpreis: “Kaum ein anderer Jazzmusiker Deutschlands”, so heißt es in der Jurybegründung, “ist in der Jazztradition ebenso präsent wie im Free Jazz oder in der neuen Elektronik”. Hervorgehoben wurde außerdem, “dass Dörner in jüngster Zeit mit einer zeitgemäßen Neudeutung des Gesamtwerks von Thelonious Monk hervorgetreten ist, die von seiner Gruppe ,Die Enttäuschung’ gemeinsam mit dem Pianisten Alexander von Schlippenbach auf einer Drei-CD-Box eingespielt wurde. Aber auch als kreativer Exponent der freien, experimentellen Improvisationsszene ist der in Berlin lebende Trompeter international anerkannt.”
The first performance of this duo, will focus on acoustic sustained pitches that will interact with the architecture of the room. The acoustic textures produced by the trumpet & the saxophone will melt together while creating a single entity of dense and abstract layers evocating dreamy soundcapes. Static pictures will provide an appropriate visual complement to the duo’s music, proposing an alltogether peculiar audio-visual performance.
Axel Dörner is an important figure of the international experimental music scene. He is active as both a trumpeter and composer in numerous collaborations and projects all around the world.
Antoine Chessex is a swiss composer and saxophone player active since the mid 90′s in different forms of experimental musics. His works range from compositons for ensembles to solo performances over collaborations with international artists.
After working together in the multimedia project Flow in 2002-2003, this concert will be their first encounter in totally acoustic duo line up.
