CalArts: The ESP Ensemble
Coming from CalArts in California the ESP Ensemble is a quartet of composer-performers who are interested in exploring electro-acoustic improvisation and interactive audio-visual performance systems. The ensemble draws from a wide array of sound making devices including networked audio-visual laptop instruments, video cameras, effect pedals, electric cello, saxophone, percussion, voice, and various other sound making devices. While at STEIM we are interested in exploring ideas surrounding improvisation and performance practice for electro-acoustic-visual ensembles in addition to learning more about instrument sensors and the video tracking capabilities found in STEIM’s junXion software.
