RICHMOND, Va. (USA) – The ninth annual Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival will take place on November 6-7, 2009 in the Modlin Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Richmond.

Third Practice, presented by the Department of Music and the Modlin Center for the Arts, is an annual festival of new electroacoustic music and works for mixed media. Now in its ninth year, the festival will present works for instruments and computer, video, and stereo and multi-channel works for fixed media.

Highlights of this year’s festival include:
concert by eighth blackbird, ensemble-in-residence
concert by clarinetist Arthur Campbell, featured artist
performances by Michael Straus, saxophone, James Moore, banjo
six concerts including works for violin, piano, cello, clarinet, flashlight, banjo, electric guitar, trampolines, paper turntables, accordion,saxophone and video and works on fixed media
Installation by Ted Coffey and Rebekah Wostrel
Third Practice performances are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for Third Practice events.
