Max/MIDI (level 1)

Introduction and MIDI applications
Prerequisite: Mastery of Macintosh (OS X), of sequencer software like ProTools, LogicAudio, and a sound editor such as Peak.
This program introduces participants to the Max/MSP graphical programming environment through interactive activities. Participants are introduced to the Max/MSP5 environment and discover two major themes of this program – interactivity and generativity – through musical applications carried out in MIDI.
Upon completion of levels 1, 2, and 3 of this training program, participants will have a complete view of the possibilities available to them with Max/MSP. Participants will understand the basic techniques of signal processing and sound synthesis. Participants will also be able to create simple interactive patches themselves for real-time applications.
