Simon H Fell and the CoMA NW ensemble

In November, CoMA North West will be working with composer and bassist Simon H Fell to present a concert as part of the Cornerstone Festival, Liverpool on Sat November 28th. This concert will include a newly commissioned work by Mr Fell, and will involve as many local musicians as wish to take part, so if you’re interested in Contemporary Art Music, this is your chance to be part of something magical.
Simon H Fell has been a major figure at the interface of composition and improvisation for some years now, with groupings such as Hession/Wilkinson & Fell and VHF, and with a series of major compositions, many documented on his own label, Bruce’s Fingers. Last year he was commissioned to write and stage a major 80 minute work, ‘Positions and Descriptions’ that was broadcast on Radio Three.
CoMA NW is the local branch of Contemporary Music Making for Amateurs, which has been active for over 20 years in the task (as the name suggests) of making Contemporary music available to the amateur player.
The format of the project will be that we will be holding rehearsal/workshops during the day of the preceding weekend (Sat 21st/Sun22nd), along with a rehearsal on the Friday before (27th) and a
soundcheck/final runthrough in the afternoon of the 28th. There will be a small charge of £30/£20 concs. for this.
