Con sordino, musiques électroacoustiques feutrées

Point d’écoute is looking for electroacoustic/tape music works in order to build the program of for their next Con Sordino concert. Boasting a selection of intimate works, Con sordino, musiques électroacoustiques feutrées will be set up as a warm, inviting concert where various music pieces will be shared. As a matter of fact, Point d’écoute proposes an entirely new way of concert listening, a unique experience of low level diffusion in a quiet space. We hereby are calling composers to submit intimist works, presenting subtile articulations of the sonic material, characterized by minimalism and quietness.

As a new organization in Montreal’s musical scene, Point d’écoute proposes various concerts in different contexts in order to promote electroacoustic music outside of its regular scene. It was created by a group of young composers to give the opportunity to up and coming artists to present themselves to the public in Québec.

The submission must include :

• A MP3 file of the submitted work encoded at 320kbps. For multichannels work (quad, 5.1, octophonic), send a stereo reduction of your work in MP3 (320 kbps). Works submitted must be no longer than 12 minutes Works submitted who have a duration of more than 12 minutes won’t be considered in that call for works. The file must be named as following : forename_name_title.mp3
• Composers may submit up to 2 works for this call.
• A program note (max. 200 words) for the submitted work. The file must be named as following : forename_name_notes.rtf
• A short bio of the composer including your email adress. The file must be named as following : forename_name_bio.rtf

The package should be submitted as a named ZIP archive (forename_name.zip) via our FTP server, prior to April 25th, 2009 to this address:

Composers of the selected works will be notified by email and will have to provided non-compressed versions of their work for the diffusion.
