Thanks Rafa for your comment.
I am afraid that, as being simply a musician without any law skills, I am not qualified to defend my opinions about copyright laws. I mentioned these as ”uneven”, but probably the real matter today is more a civil rights issue related with freedom on the internet and media, so again my opinions can hardly be relevant in this field, moreover considering the relative privilege of our european citicenship situation in comparison to other places in the world.
Being said that, I do not consider the work made using sounds comming from recordings as an assault to the original. First of all : which original ? the vinyl recording ? the analog master tape from which it was made? the mp3 rendering of a PCM recording taken from the original vinyl ? the essentially ephemeral and unachieveable real acoustic experience of listening in-situ the musicians’ performance of a score that, in itself, was probably only an edition of a manuscript ? All this ”transductions” should be kept in mind. As I sincerely believe that the only real existence of music is on the counsciouness of those who percieve it, I can hardly figure out what are we referring to when we appeal to ”The Original”. And if someone can find a conection between my work and the counsciousness of the Grand Maestros who concieved the first chain of this music, which arrives to us after passing so many conversions, then I can consider it a success. I just added some transformations to this chain, and I expect that someone keeps on transformig it: that is the reason to publish it here and with this CC license.
Hope it helps. In reply to - Ignasi Álvarez Garriga wrote a new blog post: Ignasi Álvarez “mix-mix“ 13minutes 25seconds in 7 parts made iterating time-stretch processes on several samples from old vinyl recordings of contemporary music. Hola Ignasi. Está en el menú desplegable superior. A la derecha de netork…

Ignasi, congratulations for your work.
What do you think of the impediments to establishing the copyright for artists to reconstruct the work of other artists without this implying (as seems) an assault on the original?
How long will last the hypocrisy of thinking that the inspiration of an artist must be fully independent of their environment with the sole aim of ensuring the property?
Thanks Rafa for your comment.
