eaw 2015 conferência electroacoustic winds

eaw 2015

The Research Centre for Electroacoustic Music (CIME) was created in 1997 at the Department of Comunication and Art, at the University of Aveiro. It is an experimental centre comprising the fields of creation and research in electroacoustic music.? Currently directed by Isabel Soveral, in 2014 the CIME launched the communication platform ‘Electroacoustic Winds’, seeking to disseminate the work developed in this studio and to establish relationships with international partners.

The conference ‘Electroacoustic Winds 2015’ (EAW 2015), which also includes training activities, is organized by the CIME and the Institute for Ethnomusicology – Research Centre for Music and Dance (INET-MD). This conference is complemented by a series of concerts and other activities organised in collaboration with Arte no Tempo.

EAW 2015 highlights the special participation of the American composers Daria Semegen (1946) and John Chowning (1934) and the French composer Jean-Claude Risset (1938). Besides the conference, the event also includes a set of workshops for musicians and sound engineers. For the broader public, there will be various lectures and concerts.

With the inclusion of a historiographical approach to electroacoustic music research, the conference covers a wide range of topics related to current research in this field, including:

  • sound and image
  • composition and noise
  • algorithmic composition
  • spatialization
  • synthesis
  • interpretation / performance
  • preservation in live electronics
