About the projects

“Splinks has been the main vehicle for my compositions in the field of modern jazz (in a broad interpretation of course) from 1983 till 1999. It started as a quartet and grew bigger until the culmination point as a 13-piece ensemble.

The Splinks:
Angelo Verploegen – trumpet, fluegelhorn, voice
Dieter Kuhlmann – trombone
Bart van der Putten – alto saxophone
Jaap Blonk – voice, alto & tenor saxophones
Lorand Sarna – electric & acoustic guitars
Jacko Schoonderwoerd – bass
Panc Daalder – drums, percussion

“BRAAXTAAL worked along the lines of a rock band: rehearsals had the form of improvising with a simple idea (musical line, rhythm, text) and working towards a more or less defined form. So, hardly any notes of music were used here. The trio was founded in 1987 and existed until 2005. We played in many European countries and did one North American tour. All three musicians are Dutch.
