Australian Field Recording and Live Sound Performance Tour
Camilla Hannan, Thembi Soddell, and Tarab

Artefact is an upcoming tour by Melbourne field recording based sound artists Camilla Hannan,Thembi Soddell, and Tarab (aka Eamon Sprod). It focuses on regional centres and cities not previously visited by the artists, in order to gather field recordings in each location and develop a sonic map reflecting the vast sonic contrast that can be found throughout Australia. As a result, their performances will constantly shift and evolve across the tour, reflecting their individual perceptions of their journey, and their distinctly separate approaches to sound performance and composition.

Most concerts will consist of a solo performance by each of the 3 artists, with the tour visiting Adelaide, Alice Springs, Darwin, Perth (as part of the Totally Huge New Music Festival), Melbourne, and Bendigo. In Perth they will not only perform, but also create a sound installation based on the field recordings collected on their journey, present artist talks about their work, and participate in a live broadcast on ABC national Radio with Julian Day. In Alice Springs they will also be conducting a workshop based on gathering location field recordings. The Melbourne performance will be a joint condensed version of what they have all gathered throughout the tour, rather than 3 separate solo performances.
